Civil Construction Foreman

Position Responsibilities: This position is responsible for effectively leading a crew from the start of a project to completion while keeping safety, quality, budget, and timelines in mind. This position is responsible for job pre-planning and ensuring all inventory, job materials, manpower, and external resources are adequate and available for the project. Must have good interpersonal communication skills, as well as skills performing basic construction, electrical, and mechanical work. This is a full-time position with a typical work schedule of Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with overtime requirements.


Expectations:

  • Supervise crew of 1-4 members to effectively complete job orders.
  • Lay out cell tower sites, electrical, and telecommunications infrastructure, including fencing and ice bridges, set and install pre-fabricated equipment buildings.
  • Install and wire telecommunications equipment, installing breakers, making terminations.
  • Trenching, laying fiber and conduit.
  • Perform basic concrete carpentry including but not limited to: Pour concrete pads, block wall foundations, excavations, layout, forming, rebar placing and finishing.
  • Maintain and submit complete and accurate files, driving logs, pictures, reports, and receipts.
  • ·Adhere to all driving requirements as determined by State and Federal regulations.
  • Adhere to all Company and industry (i.e., OSHA) standards/regulations.
  • Order materials per plans and specifications as assigned by supervisor.
  • Schedule equipment and tools as assigned and coordinated prior to starting the assignment.
  • Read, understand, and execute blueprint/construction drawings, clarifying any discrepancies.


Minimum Requirements

  • Class A CDL is required.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing
  • Ability to drive long distances on and off road, and to tow trailers.
  • Ability to operate machinery such as backhoes, mini excavators, skid steers
  • Ability to communicate fluently with crew members, other Local Underground employees, customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to work weekends, as needed
  • Must be able to travel (frequently out of state) and work away from home Monday through Friday (typical projects last one – two weeks)
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs

Boring Field Technician I, II, III

Position Responsibility: Boring field technician will be responsible for supporting the drilling foreman to ensure the scope of work is done in an efficient matter. The boring field technician position entails:

  • Digging and setting handholes using mini excavator or manually dig when needed.
  • Pothole for utilities using hydro excavator or manually dig when scope of work prevents machinery.
  • Locating for drill foreman and locating underground utilities with subsite electronics.
  • Restoring all disturbed surfaces, including concrete, to acceptable condition.
  • Eagerness to learn new skills related to drilling to better support entire boring crew.
  • Site cleanup
  • Assist in the splicing of conduit, pulling of fiber through conduit, filling of water for drill and vac, dumping of vac, and any other duties that are needed to directionally bore.


Position Requirements

  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing
  • A valid Class A CDL is required. If candidate does not have a CDL they will be asked to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • Ability to communicate fluently with crew foreman and other Local Underground employees
  • Ability to drive long distances, and to tow trailers in accordance with DOT standards.
  • Must be able to use backhoe, trenching and plowing equipment, mini-excavator and hand tools for construction, cleanup and restoration.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, problem solving, written and verbal skills
  • Must be able to function a tablet and smartphone to access prints, emails, and photos

Drill Operator/Utility Locator

Position Responsibility:

  • Operate drill equipment and/or other trenching or digging equipment: Plow, Backhoe/Excavator, skid loader, Tractor Trailer (Moving Equipment/Haul Water)
  • Locate and mark path of underground utilities (electrical, gas, cable) and pipes
  • Assist drill operator when boring to ensure no utilities are in bore parth
  • Install and maintain underground fiber optic and other telecommunications cabling service lines
  • Assist in the splicing of conduit, pulling of fiber through conduit, filling of water for drill and vac, dumping of vac, and any other duties that are needed to directionally bore.
